How it all began
With humble beginnings Steve Tankersley a Texas based session guitarist working primairly on radio jingles and other commercial recordings made the decision to change focus with professional songwriting. Including taking on the role of producer and recording engineer with this entire project.
Working within the Texas live music entertainment scene for over 3 decades and several years in Nashville, realizing the plethora of talent available is what ultimately led to the decision this studio project can and will breath life.
Seeing firsthand the entire recording industry change drastically due to many factors. Including witnessing countless record labels completely gone that historically were in abundance through the 90's. The very first step was understanding it is a completely different world than what was seen in the past.
Or maybe best stated, you need to understand where you are if you expect to know where you are going. Maybe more important to understand, how you get there.
That led to what came next.....
Material released under The Wanderlust Vagabonds was originally targeted to established main stream touring artist with the intention of they recording. Or essentially "Pitch recording sessions" It also explains why several different vocalist are leveraged with many of these recordings. As each song was originally being targeted to specific established touring artist having a similar vocal range and style with each song recorded.
Without spelling out the negative side of the music industry, after several disappointing experiences with entertainment industry publicist is what led to making the decision to change strategy and go to market in a totally new and different way.
Or as once famously stated in the movie, Field of Dreams... Build it and they will come....
Even developing and licensing the name The Wanderlust Vagabonds has a back story that will be shared at a future date.
With the first scheduled release in Noveber 2025 to all major streaming services, there is still a massive amount of recorded material forthcoming and will be released periodically in the near future. Including an additional whimsical single about dear old Santa soon to be released just in time for the holiday season.
